Ever since those two teeth came in fused together we have always wondered what would happen when he lost them. This is the before picture. The bottom front jagged "tooth" on your left are his fused teeth. The open space next to it (in the middle bottom where adult teeth are coming in) was where he lost his first tooth via the natural "dad pull" method. Look closely and you can see another adult tooth jamming it's way in sideways. The fused one wasn't very loose. We took him to the dentist to have it removed. After all of that we though we could have probably done the same thing with some Motrin, ice and something to pry it up with.
Ahhh, much more space for those teeth to grow in. X-rays show he had two adult teeth under the two fused teeth. So there's another big one under there waiting to come up. He will most likely need implements to widen the roof of his mouth and braces. But that discussion can wait until he is 7 or 8 according to the dentist. Please don't mind the chocolate pudding face. The poor boy could only eat soft foods all day and he's a growing, hungry guy!He was very good at the dentist and at home all day afterwards.

Ack. Ok. As we know, Drew has that same double tooth, fused, one-maybe-two tooth gene. Glad he has a adult tooth under, I have hope. Any advice. Seriously- Drew's looks the same.
Janet - the only reason Aiden was allowed to have an x-ray was because he is 5 and they can start doing them then at his regular check-ups. Not much you can do. Watch them as them come in and if the double doesn't budge use ice, Motrin and a pry bar and get the suckers out of there. I think the only reason (so far) Aiden will need braces is to help correct the cross bite - nothing to do with the fused teeth. But I think his teeth will be all jacked up anyways. :-)
